Game Summary:London 3; Toronto 2
As far as the Toronto Maple Leafs are concerned, the London Majors picked the worst time to snap their five-game losing streak.

The Majors took advantage of three Toronto errors and made the most of just six hits to edge the Leafs 3-2, handing the Leafs their second straight loss.

London (14-7) also handed Leaf ace Marek Deska (5-1) his first loss of the season as Toronto (12-10) stayed in fourth place in the IBL.

Deska entered the game with a 5-0 record and an ERA of 1.67, along with an astounding 47 strikeouts and just four walks in 43 innings pitched. But on Friday he was let down by his defence, as he wound up going seven effective innings.

Deska was charged with three runs – just one earned – on six hits with eight strikeouts and one walk, actually lowering his ERA to 1.62.

Jordi Amargos pitched seven strong innings for the win for the Majors to pick up the win. He allowed two runs on five hits with six strikeouts and two walks before Josh Palmer came on to get the save, tossing two perfect innings and striking out three.

Paul LaMantia and Steve Froese both had run-scoring hits for the Majors, while Tyler Graham and Chris Chambers both had a hit and a run scored for the winners as well.

Kern Watts had three of the Leafs seven hits and also scored a run, while Kyle Degrace and Rob Gillis drove in the Toronto runs.

Game Summary:The Toronto Maple Leafs offence broke out for a season-high 25 hits as they mauled the London Majors 20-4 at Dominico Field at Christie Pits. It was one of four games played in the Intercounty Baseball League on Sunday afternoon.

Toronto’s onslaught started early, as the Leafs had nine hits in the first three innings and a healthy 8-2 lead for starter Mel Melehes. By the time Melehes left after six innings it was 14-4 and Toronto scored three more in the seventh and another three in the eighth to really pile it on.

Dan Marra had five hits for the Leafs (13-10), including a pair of run-scoring doubles, and also scored twice. The Leafs also pounded four home runs, after hitting just eight as a team in their first 22 games of the season.

John Waltenbury had a two-run homer among his four hits and wound up with four RBI, while Jeremy Walker delivered a three-run homer among his three hits and also scored three runs.

Kern Watts and Brandon Dhue both added two-run homers to the Toronto onslaught, with Kyle DeGrace chipping in three hits, two RBI and two runs scored. Every Leaf batter had at least one hit, and eight of Toronto’s starting nine had at least two hits.

Melehes normally doesn’t need that much support and he was solid enough for six innings, allowing four runs – three earned – on nine hits with five strikeouts and two walks, to get the win. Chris Cox pitched two scoreless innings of relief and Jake Gallo got the last three outs to complete the 11-hitter.

London starter Rory Young was charged with the loss. He went two innings and allowed six runs – five earned – on seven hits with two strikeouts and one walk. Three relievers didn’t fare much better, allowing 14 runs on 18 hits over the last six innings.

Chris Chambers had two hits including a solo homer for London (14-8), while Shawn Robinson also had two hits for the losers.
