Game Summary:

Majors 4 Dodgers 1; Dodgers 3 Majors 2              
In London, the Oshawa Dodgers managed a split of their Canada Day doubleheader against the host Majors, winning the nightcap 3-2 after dropping game one 4-1.              
In the opener, Adam Echlin pitched a complete game seven-hitter, striking out three and walking none, to give the Majors the victory. London scored three runs in the first inning and made that stand up, despite getting just five hits in the game.   Kyle Piwowrczyk had three hits and drove in the winning run in the first inning for the Majors, while Christian Ruiz added an RBI double in the first and a sacrifice fly in the fifth to provide some insurance. Oshawa loser Brett Backman managed to get just two outs in the first inning, allowing three runs on three hits with two walks. Craig Chaput was solid the rest of the way, allowing just one run on two hits over 5 1/3 innings, and Ryan Fleming had two hits for Oshawa.

Game Summary:

In the second game, the Dodgers scored three runs in the third inning and hung on for the 3-2 win, salvaging a split. Adam Garner got the win, allowing two runs on eight hits in 6 2/3 innings, striking out five and walking two, before Scott Kelly got the last out for the save. Steve Lewis hit the game-winning homer for the Dodgers and Sean Mattson had two hits.
Jess Bechard homered and Rudy Vallejos had three hits in a losing cause for the Majors. Loser Medhi Gjebbar went five innings in relief of starter Geoff Mann, allowing one run on five hits and took the loss.

In London, the Majors scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning after Brantford had scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning to record a wild 6-5 win over the visiting Brantford Red Sox.
   Toshi Sasa had two hits and drove in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth with a single to lift the Majors to the win, as London (19-8) moved to within 1 ½ games of first place Guelph and just one game behind second place Barrie. Mason Reilly had two hits and drove in a pair of runs for the Majors while Jess Bechard homered and drove in two runs. Kyle Piwowrczyk and Jeff Helps also had two hits each for the Majors. Al Stephens hit a two-run homer in the top of the ninth and had three hits, while Josh McCurdy also had three hits and drove in a run for the Sox. Justin Wendt added a pair of hits for Brantford (18-11). Brantford starter Mike Meyers went 8 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on nine hits, but reliever Jake Eliopoulos took the loss and was charged with three runs on three hits in 1/3 inning.    Pierre Deschenes got the win in relief for London, allowing three runs on three hits in 1 1/3 innings. Starter Ryan McGorman allowed two runs on 10 hits over 7 2/3 innings.

Game Summary:

In London, the Majors swept the Toronto Maple Leafs for the second time in a week, taking both ends of a doubleheader at Labatt Park, winning 6-3 and 3-0. London swept the Leafs in Toronto last Sunday and the twin killing Sunday was the Leafs sixth straight loss and 16th in their past 19 games. London improved to 21-8 to stay in thick of the fight for first place.              

Adam Echlin pitched a complete game in the opener for the win, getting the better of Mike Lynch, who also went all the way, allowing six runs on eight hits. Echlin allowed three runs on five hits, striking out two and walking one. Dave Narodowski, who was selected MVP of the All-Star Game Saturday at Christie Pits, Kyle Piwowarczyk and Christian Ruiz all had two hits and drove in a run for the Majors in the opener while Kyle Degrace and Gamin Teague both had two hits for Toronto. Teague’s also homered for the Leafs.

Game Summary:

Josh Palmer tossed a complete game seven-hitter in the nightcap, striking out four and walking two, while Kevin Virtue had two of London’s six hits and drove in a  run and Narodowski added a solo homer. Mike Onumere and Matt Logan both had two hits for the Leafs in game two.   Toronto starter Greg Byron lasted four innings, allowing three runs on four hits with three strikeouts, to take the loss in his Leaf debut.

Majors 11 Nationals 5 (10 innings)              
In Stratford, the London Majors moved into a tie for first place in the IBL with an 11-5 win over the Stratford Nationals.
  The Majors scored six runs in the top of the 10th inning to pick up the win, improving their record to 22-8 and moving into a first place tie with the Guelph Storm. Stratford dropped to 4-25 with the loss.               Mike Mitro picked up the win in relief for the Majors, tossing 3 2/3 shutout innings. He allowed just three hits with five strikeouts and one walk. Mason Reilly sparked the 13 hit London attack with a pair of hits, including a home run, and drove in three runs. Tyler Graham had four hits and an RBI in a losing cause for the Nationals, who slapped out 15 hits in the game. Losing pitcher Mike McGillvary went 8 1/3 innings, allowing nine runs on 12 hits with two strikeouts and two walks.

Game Summary:

Majors stay red hot and at the top of IBL standings   

Ryan McGorman pitched eight strong innings as the London Majors moved into a tie for first place at the top of the IBL standings with a 9-2 thumping of the Kitchener Panthers in one of three IBL games played Thursday night. McGorman allowed two runs on six hits with nine strikeouts as the Majors improved to 23-8 to tie Guelph for first place, scoring four runs in the fourth inning and another five runs in the fifth.              

London pounded out 14 hits in the game, with Kyle Piwowarczyk going 3-for-4 with an RBI and Kevin Virtue also picking up three hits. Jess Bechard added a solo homer for the winners. Lee Witmer took the loss, going 1 2/3 innings. He allowed four runs – one earned – on five hits with one strikeout. Chris Novia had two hits and drove in a pair of runs for Kitchener.
