In London, the Oshawa Dodgers managed a split of their Canada Day doubleheader against the host Majors, winning the nightcap 3-2 after dropping game one 4-1.
In the opener, Adam Echlin pitched a complete game seven-hitter, striking out three and walking none, to give the Majors the victory. London scored three runs in the first inning and made that stand up, despite getting just five hits in the game. Kyle Piwowrczyk had three hits and drove in the winning run in the first inning for the Majors, while Christian Ruiz added an RBI double in the first and a sacrifice fly in the fifth to provide some insurance. Oshawa loser Brett Backman managed to get just two outs in the first inning, allowing three runs on three hits with two walks. Craig Chaput was solid the rest of the way, allowing just one run on two hits over 5 1/3 innings, and Ryan Fleming had two hits for Oshawa.

Game Summary:
In London, the Majors swept the Toronto Maple Leafs for the second time in a week, taking both ends of a doubleheader at Labatt Park, winning 6-3 and 3-0. London swept the Leafs in Toronto last Sunday and the twin killing Sunday was the Leafs sixth straight loss and 16th in their past 19 games. London improved to 21-8 to stay in thick of the fight for first place.
Adam Echlin pitched a complete game in the opener for the win, getting the better of Mike Lynch, who also went all the way, allowing six runs on eight hits. Echlin allowed three runs on five hits, striking out two and walking one. Dave Narodowski, who was selected MVP of the All-Star Game Saturday at Christie Pits, Kyle Piwowarczyk and Christian Ruiz all had two hits and drove in a run for the Majors in the opener while Kyle Degrace and Gamin Teague both had two hits for Toronto. Teague’s also homered for the Leafs.
