Game Summary:

Majors 6 Leafs 4; Leafs 13 Majors 3

            In London, the host Majors ended Toronto’s seven-game winning streak with a 6-4 win in the opener of a doubleheader, but the Leafs rebounded to end London’s three-game winning streak with a 13-3 romp in the nightcap.

            In the opener the Leafs took a 4-0 lead but three runs in both the fourth and fifth innings gave the Majors the 6-4 victory, snapping Toronto ’s seven-game winning streak.

            Cleveland Brownlee and Paul Young both had two hits and two RBI for the Majors, while Allan Cattrysse and Paul Lytywnec also had two hits and an RBI.

            London starter Zachary Breault went four innings, allowing four runs on six hits with one strikeout and one walk, but it was reliever Aaron Boag that got the win with three shutout innings. He allowed just one hit and one walk.

            Toronto reliever Ryan Mashinter, the second of three Leaf pitchers, was the loser. He gave up three runs on four hits over 1 2/3 innings in relief of starter Matt Walker, who allowed three runs on six hits over 3 1/3 innings, striking out three and walking one.

            Kyle Degrace had three hits, drove in a run and scored another in the opener for Toronto , while Damon Topolie and Raul Borjas had the other Leaf RBI.

Game Summary:

In game two it was all Toronto , as the Leafs scored five runs in the first inning en route to the easy victory with a 13-hit attack. Toronto improved to 18-9 with the split, leaving the Leafs in second place one game behind first place Barrie , while the Majors remained tied for fifth place at 12-13.

            Jake Gallo got the win on the mound for the Leafs with five solid innings of work. He allowed three runs on six hits with two strikeouts and a walk before Cody Powell finished up with two scoreless innings.

            Dan Gibbons led the Leafs with three hits, including a homer, three runs scored and drove in another two runs, while Topolie, Rob Gillis and Kyle Morton all drove in two runs. Gillis and Jordan Castaldo both had two hits and Degrace scored three runs and had another hit in the nightcap.

            London starter Craig Bate was the loser. He lasted just the first inning, allowing five runs on four hits with three walks.

            Will Watkins drove in two runs and Ryan Lapensee had two hits and scored a run for London in Game 2.

Game Summary:

The London Majors moved into sole possession of fifth place in the Intercounty Baseball League and back to the .500 mark with a 6-2 win over the Hamilton Thunderbirds in IBL action Friday night.

London starter Pierre Miville-Deschenes pitched eight solid innings, allowing just two runs on four hits with 10 strikeouts and four walks, as the Majors took a 3-0 lead after four innings before scoring three more runs in the eighth inning to put the game away.

Josh Palmer came on in the ninth to toss a hitless inning of relief, striking out one and walking one, as the Majors improved to 13-13 and moved a half-game ahead of Mississauga into fifth place.

Ryan Cattrysse led London ’s seven-hit attack with two hits and also scored once and drove in another run. Paul Lytwynec drove in a pair of runs for the Majors, while Cleveland Brownlee had an RBI triple.

Hamilton starter Matt Gottschalk was the hard-luck loser, allowing three runs on three hits with seven strikeouts and one walk as the T-Birds slipped to 6-18 and saw their three-game winning streak snapped.

The loss also dropped Hamilton into a tie with the Ottawa Fat Cats (8-20) for the eighth and final playoff spot in the IBL.

Chris Piano had the only RBI of the game for Hamilton , as the Thunderbirds managed just four hits and made three errors.

Game Summary:

Majors 5 Royals 4 

            In Guelph, Will Watkins scored on a wild pitch with the winning run in the top of the seventh inning, lifting the London Majors to a 5-4 comeback win over the Guelph Royals.

            Guelph led 4-0 after three innings but failed to hold on and suffered their fifth straight loss to slip to 9-17. The Majors (14-13) won their second straight to hang on to fifth place in the IBL.

            Andy St. Gelais pitched a complete game eight-hitter, allowing four runs with two strikeouts and three walks for the win.

            Ryan Lapensee had two hits, scored a run and drove in another for the Majors, while Watkins also had two hits.

            John Waltenbury homered, had two hits and drove ina  run for the Royals, while Sean Reilly drove in two runs and Andrew Karkoulos had two hits and scored a run.

           Mel Melehes took the loss for the Royals. He went seven innings, allowing five runs on nine hits with four strikeouts and three walks.

Game Summary:

In London, the Red Sox moved into a tie for first place in the IBL with an 8-6 win over the London Majors.
Brantford (17-8) is now tied with the Toronto Maple Leafs
(19-10) for first place, a half game ahead of the third place Barrie Baycats (18-10), after Toronto beat Barrie 8-5 in Barrie.
The Red Sox pounded out 15 hits in the win, scoring two runs in both the seventh and eighth innings to get the win. Lee Delfino homered, had three hits and drove in a pair of runs while Josh McCurdy also had three hits, scored a run and drove in another.
Hyung Cho had two hits and an RBI, while Jason Gotwalt and Tyler Patzalek both added a pair of hits for the winners. Tyler Burnell also had two RBI for Brantford.
Reliever Mark James went 1 1/3 hitless innings for the win, striking out one. Stefan Strecker allowed one run on four hits over the final two innings to pick up the save.
Mike Delong was charged with the loss. He allowed two unearned runs on one hit in 2/3 innings after starter JF Richard allowed six runs ? five earned ? on 14 hits over seven innings, striking out three and walking two.
Alan Cattrysse had two hits, including a homer, and drove in three runs for the Majors. Ryan Lapensee and Paul Young both had two hits and scored twice and Will Watkins also had two hits for the losers.

Game Summary:

Majors crush Panthers to move back over .500

The London Majors pounded out 25 hits and scored nine runs in the fifth inning to crush the Kitchener Panthers 20-4 in one of three games played in the Intercounty Baseball League on Thursday.

London (15-14) drilled five home runs as they moved to within a game and a half of the fourth place Panthers (18-14) as the IBL regular season heads into its last 10 days before the playoffs begin.

Cleveland Brownlee, Vince Burke, Paul Lytwynec, Ryan Cattrysse and Mitch Delaney all hit home runs for the Majors, who led 20-1 at one point. Chris Chambers and Will Watkins both had four hits to lead the London attack, with Chambers scoring three runs and Watkins also added two RBI and two runs scored.

Delaney added three hits, three runs scored and three RBI, Ryan Lapensee had three hits, two runs scored and two RBI, Lytwynec had three hits, three runs scored and one RBI, Ryan Cattrysse had three hits, scored twice and one RBI and Allan Cattrysse drove in three runs with two runs scored and two hits.

Starter Zachary Breault went eight innings for the win, allowing three runs – two earned – on five hits with 10 strikeouts and four walks. Kitchener made five errors in the game.

Brandon Farquhar went four innings and was tagged with the loss. He allowed eight runs – five earned – on 10 hits with three strikeouts and two walks. Brent Mitchell and Jeff Pietraszko both homered for Kitchener, with Pietraszko and Luke Baker both collecting two of the Panthers six hits.

Fat Cats 3 Majors 0; Fat Cats 3 Majors 1

In Ottawa, the Fat Cats treated nearly 2000 of their fans to their 10th and 11th wins of the season by sweeping the London Majors in a doubleheader.

In the first game of the doubleheader, the Majors held the Fat Cats to only three hits, but it was enough for Ottawa to grind out a 3-0 victory.

Marshall MacDonald singled and drove in a run for the winners, with Mark Charrette earning the teams only other RBI. Dan Baribeau doubled while Cody Mombuquette chipped in with a single. Jonathan Dale, Joe Stone, and Tony Farago scored the runs for Ottawa.

Ryan Lapensee singled twice in the loss, the only Major to finish with multiple hits. Paul Lytwynec and Mike Welbourne had the only other hits for London.

Matt McGovern was victorious on the mound in game one, pitching a complete game seven inning shutout, allowing just five hits with two walks and two strikeouts.

Pierre Miville-Deschenes was dealt the loss, giving up three hits and three runs – two earned – with four walks and three strikeouts over six innings.

Game Summary:

In the second game of the doubleheader, not much changed for the Majors struggling Saturday offence, as they fell to the Fat Cats once again, this time 3-1.

London briefly held a one run lead in the top of the second, before the Fat Cats quickly tied the game in the bottom of the inning and kept their bats going. Marshall MacDonald singled and doubled while scoring once. Eitan Maoz also doubled and added an RBI. Mark Charrette tripled and also scored. Cody Mombuquette singled

and registered an RBI in the win, which improves Ottawa to 11-21 and gives them a two game lead over the last place Hamilton Thunderbirds for the final playoff spot in the IBL.

Cleveland Brownlee doubled and scored a run for the Majors (15-16) in the loss. Will Watkins, Steve Froese, and Ryan Cattrysse each singled, with Cattrysse adding the lone London RBI.

David Barnes picked up his second win of the season, allowing four hits and just one (earned) run with seven strikeouts over a full-game seven inning effort.

Andy St. Gelais was the loser, giving up six hits and three runs – all earned – with one walk and one strikeout over six complete innings.

Game Summary:

   In London , the Majors pounded out 12 hits to defeat the Guelph Royals 7-3.

              Ryan Lapensee doubled, singled, and drove in two runs, while Steve Froese singled twice and also registered two RBI. Paul Young was the other multi-hitter for the Majors (17-17) with two singles.

              Jeremy Ware earned two RBI for the Royals (14-19), while Nathan Grant doubled and scored a run and Christ Stewart singled twice and scored twice.

              Pierre Miville-Deschenes allowed just five hits and three runs – two earned – with four walks and five strikeouts over eight innings to earn the win. Craig Bate picked up the save, pitching one inning of shut out baseball with one strikeout.

              Mike Goemans was the loser, giving up six hits, three runs – two earned – with one walk and one strikeout over 4 2/3 innings.

In Mississauga, the Twins exploded for six runs in the fifth inning on their way to a 12-7 win over the London Majors.
Kevin Langille’s grand slam home run highlighted the big fifth inning for the Twins (17-17), who moved a half-game ahead of the Majors
(17-18) into fifth place in the IBL.
Derek Gordon drove in four runs and had three hits while scoring twice for the Twins, while Branson Joseph and Brendan Emmitt both added a pair of hits and scored twice for the winners, who made the most of their 13 hits. Elliot Shrive also had two hits.
Adam Kudryk picked up the win, scattering six runs on 11 hits over 6
1/3 innings, striking out three and walking one.
Alan Cattrysse had three hits, including a homer, scored three times and drove in two runs for the Majors. Ryan Lapensee homered and had two hits and Ryan Cattrysse and Will Watkins both had two hits, while Chris Chambers had a three-run homer for London.
Loser Andy St. Gelais went five innings, allowing seven runs on six hits with four strikeouts and six walks.

Game Summary:

London 4 Mississauga 3 (10 innings)

In London, Ryan Lapensee drove in Mitch Delaney in the bottom of the 10th with a walk-off single to take a 4-3 victory over the Mississauga Twins.

              Delaney and Cleveland Brownlee each doubled and scored a run, with Brownlee also picking up an RBI for the Majors (18-18) in their final regular season game. Allan Cattrysse singled twice and scored a run.

              Chad Marshall had two hits, two runs scored, and one RBI for the Twins (17-18) which put the Twins a half game behind the Majors in the IBL standings. Derek Gordon chipped in with a hit and one RBI.

              Aaron Boag earned the win giving up only one hit over five innings with one walk and two strikeouts.

              Bill Martin was dealt the loss, allowing two hits and one earned run with two walks over two innings of work.
