In Brantford, Al Stevens had a pair of hits, including a triple and drove in two runs to help the Red Sox to a 14-0 win over the London Majors in Game 1 of the Intercounty Baseball League Championship Series on Friday. John Ogiltree (3-1) worked seven scoreless innings allowing two hits and four walks while striking out five batters. Min Soo Kim struck out three batters in two innings to preserve the shutout. Jason Gotwalt had three hits and scored two runs while Adam Vella and Wayne Foreman each added two hits and scored twice for Brantford. Erick Perez (4-1) suffered his first loss of the post-season after surrendering 10 runs - eight earned - on 12 hits in 2 2/3 innings. Four relievers took the hill for London in the loss. Chuck Roberts had two hits for the Majors, who host Game 2 on Sunday in London.

In London, Kevin Virtue scored the winning run on an error in the bottom of the 11th inning to lift the Majors to a 10-9 win over the Brantford Red Sox in the in Intercounty Baseball League Championship Series on Sunday. The series is tied at one game each. Simon Gallaraga had three singles and drove in a pair of runs while Matt Luvisotto had two hits, including a double, and drove in a run and Rudy Vallejos doubled and drove in a run in the win. Adam Arnold (1-0) picked up the win after pitching 2 2/3 innings of relief. Hiarali Garcia started the game for London giving up eight runs and nine hits in 7 2/3 innings. Tom Van Kasteren worked 2/3 of an inning of relief. Aaron Boag (1-2) allowed the winning run in 3 2/3 innings of relief for the loss. Brantford starter Stefan Strecker allowed seven runs in 1 1/3 innings. Ryan Brickman also pitched for Brantford. Josh McCurdy and Adam Vella homered and David Parsons added three singles for Brantford.

Brantford leads the IBL Championship Series 2-1. Hogeterp (4-0) struck out eight batters and didn't allow any walks in his fourth post-season win. Hyung Cho belted a solo homer in the fourth inning to account for all of the offence in the game. Adam Vella doubled and Wayne Foreman singled in the win. Josh Palmer (1-2) allowed one run and three hits while striking out five batters in a complete-game eight inning effort for London. Matt Luvisotto doubled for London while Kyle Piwowarczyk, Chuck Roberts and Rudy Vallejos singled in the loss. |

Brantford leads the series 3-1 and host Game 5 on Friday. Wayne Foreman and Lee Delfino each added three singles in the win. Stefan Strecker (2-1) picked up the win with an inning of relief. He loaded the bases before recording the final out of the game. Starter John Ogiltree gave up three runs and four hits in 3 1/3 innings before Aaron Boag worked 5 2/3 innings.
Tom VanKasteren (0-1) gave up the winning run on three hits in 2/3 of an inning. Starter Erick Perez allowed three runs and eight hits in seven innings. Hiarali Garcia and Adam Arnold each worked an inning of relief for London. Ryan Gauthier had three hits, including a double, and drove in two runs and Kevin Virtue tied the game with a home run in the bottom of the ninth inning. |

In Brantford, Raul Borjas belted a three-run triple and then scored on an error in the fifth inning to pace the Red Sox to a 7-3 win over the London Majors in the Intercounty Baseball League playoffs on Friday. The win clinched the 2006 IBL championship for the Red Sox, who won the series in five games.
Al Stephens belted a solo homer in the second inning for the Red Sox, who won the Jack and Lynne Dominico Trophy as league champions for the first time since 1981. Ryan Brickman (1-0) allowed three runs and three hits in 5 2/3 innings for the win and Stefan Strecker picked up the save after holding London scoreless on two hits in 3 1/3 innings of relief.
Hiarali Garcia (2-1) allowed seven runs - three earned - and seven hits while striking out seven batters and walking one in a complete-game effort for London. Simon Gallaraga homered in the loss. |
